Building a Just City: Mobilizing the Church to Address the Racial Wealth Gap

  • Indiegrove 121 Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302 United States (map)

McKinsey & Co. recently published an article entitled, "The Economic Impact of Closing the Racial Wealth Gap." In the article Duwain Pinder, a Jersey City resident, and his team discussed challenges facing black families in four dimensions--Community Context, Family Income, Family Wealth, and Family Savings--that have lead to a widening racial wealth gap.

The paper highlights the need for holistic engagement and partnership. The relevance of these findings for our city is clear as Jersey City continues to experience growing inequality between its neighborhoods.

Join us as our congregations invite Mr. Pinder to share about the article’s findings and educate us about the important issue. We will also have local organizations respond to the article and share how their organizations address the four dimensions discussed by the article.
